What we collect
If you give us your email address, we store it along with the date, the page you gave it on, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and the exact wording of the consent you agreed to. We keep that evidence so we can show your signup was genuine.
Scans of printed codes
When you scan a code printed in one of our books, we record which code it was, when, your device type, the page that referred you, and a one-way hash of your IP address. We never store the address itself, and a hash cannot be turned back into one.
What we do with it
We email you about new books in the subjects you picked. We may pass your email address and chosen subjects to an email delivery provider so those emails can be sent. We do not sell your data.
Checking for bots
Sign-up forms attract automated abuse, so when you subscribe we check the address against BotScout, a database of addresses known for spam sign-ups. This sends your email address and the IP address you signed up from to BotScout for that check, and nothing else. We do it once, keep the result for a week, and use it only to decide whether to send you a confirmation email.
Staying in control
Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe and a link to change what you hear about. You can also ask us to delete your record entirely.
Cookies
The site sets a session cookie so forms work, and nothing else. There is no third-party analytics and no advertising tracking.
Amazon links
Links to Amazon go through this site first so we can count how many people clicked. Where a link is an Amazon Associates link, we may earn a commission on a purchase at no extra cost to you.
